Upcoming meetings

The annual membership meeting is generally held on the third Thursday in May at 7pm. Those wishing to attend should send an email to support@lakezurichpoa.com.

Boat Stickers

Our association is run strictly by volunteers. Please consider this when getting a boat sticker. Plan ahead!! You need a sticker to use the ramp. Calling for a sticker when you and your boat are on the ramp is probably not a good idea. We are always looking for more help. Please attend the annual meeting and see what you can do!

Debris

We’ve got lots of floating debris this year. Please do your part and pick up your shoreline trash ASAP. We don’t want it floating elsewhere and causing damage to boats and skiers.

A 2015 Illinois law requires boaters that are towing skiers or tubers to display an orange flag. The flag must be displayed from the time the person skiing or tubing is in the water, to the time the person re-enters the boat. Please be sure to remove your flag once you are no longer towing anyone. As always, Lake Zurich boaters should observe the counterclockwise rotation, and be cognizant of fisherman and the growing number of kayaks and stand-up paddle boards. Ski lanes get busy on weekends and keeping these lanes clear is critical. The ski lanes are just inside the no wake buoys.

All Illinois boaters born on or after January 1st, 1998 are now required to complete a mandatory Boater's Safety Course. Please see link below.

Correct Way to Pickup A Skier

The CORRECT way to pick up a skier is to put the throttle in idle once the skier is down and BEFORE initiating the turn. Once the boat has slowed down to no wake, idle back to your rider and make your pickup. NEVER travel back to your rider with a speed that makes a wake!!! It’s unsafe and contributes to the roughness of the lake.

Anchoring Your Boat Correctly

Many boaters find anchoring difficult and here are some quick tips to make it a success. Use a nylon rope and an anchor with prongs (versus the mushroom type). You need a rope that is at least 5 TIMES LONGER than the water depth. This means that if the water is 20 feet deep, your line needs to be 100 feet long!! Please stay close to the swimming buoy and prevent your boat from drifting into the ski lanes. If the wind blows your boat into the ski lanes, it makes the lake very dangerous. Please try to avoid this situation. If you drift, you need to pull up your anchor and try again to secure your boat closer to the swim buoy.

Boat Storage

The Village has zoning laws that outline storing a boat after the summer season. Boats must be stored in the backyard AND be on concrete or asphalt. They will begin to enforce this so please make sure you are compliant. You CAN NOT store your boat on your grass anywhere in your yard. Please contact Mary Meyer at the VOLZ for more information.
